In my previous blog, I introduced some places I often go to in my free time, and in this post, I will continue to share some other nice places. They are not too far away from campus and are worth visiting Fresh International Market: This supermarket has a wide variety of products, including lots of fresh food and Asian snacks. I even found the green onion pancakes and tang-yuan (glutinous rice balls) that I enjoyed eating in my hometown. It always makes me happy to see those snacks that I used to eat often in my childhood. The market is just a street across from the Champaign Public Library, and for me, spending a good morning in both places is blissful. Crystal Lake Park and Meadowbrook Park: The two parks, one in the northeast of the school and the other in the southeast, are not far from campus. Both parks have beautiful plants, streams, and walking trails, which are very suitable for relaxing as well as having a good walk. Occasionally, wild animals appear in the park. I have seen ducks and geese, and one of my classmates has even seen deers! How interesting! Spurlock Museum and Krannert Art Museum: These are the two museums on campus. The Spurlock Museum is near the music building and is slightly smaller. The Krannert Art Museum is larger and has more exhibition areas, but it is farther away from the music building. Both museums display diverse artworks, sculptures, and other precious cultural relics from all over the world, and there are detailed explanations beside each object. Additionally, these two museums sometimes hold lectures, concerts, or activities for the public to explore together and learn about the cultures of different countries and regions. Mattis Park: Finally, in addition to these locations, I personally recommend a hidden gem in the Champaign area, Mattis Park, but it is no longer within the scope of campus. There are green spaces, a lake, and short walking trails as well as many wild geese leisurely sunbathing in the grass and swimming in the lake. There is also a memorial piano garden within the park! It is always very delightful to spend time being close to nature there. In conclusion, even though Champaign-Urbana is in the cornfields, there absolutely are still plenty of places to explore and relax in your spare time!
